New This Year

We work hard to make our program better and better. Here are some updates for this year:

  • Dormitory Key Pad This fall, our dormitory will be fitted with a keypad that will lock the doors during quiet hours. Each school will be given a unique entrance code that will allow them entry to the dorm. Schools will be given their code prior to their arrival.
  • New Guidelines for KP and FoodWISE This year KP will be split among groups sharing the dining hall space according to meals. The KP duties will remain the same i.e. tray washing and drying, table tidying as will FoodWISE cart supervision and duties. You will be given your KP meal assignments and FoodWISE cart numbers prior to your arrival.
  • Teacher Introductions During dinner on your first day, your liaison will facilitate a time for you to meet the other teachers who are at Eagle Bluff with their students. This will hopefully give you a chance to get to know the other teachers and schools who may share space and programming.
  • Revised Class: Forest Ecology Forest Ecology is back this school year, newly revised and better than ever. Students will explore the forest ecosystem by determining its age, stage of succession and importance to human society.
  • GPS Pathfinders Navigate through the woods using the latest technology, the Global Positioning System!  From the lodestone to the GPS, participants will see how navigational technology has evolved through the ages.  Understanding the technology behind the GPS and learning to read its screens will be essential as students “Dash for the Cache”.  Working in pairs, students will use a Garmin Rino GPS to navigate and locate a cache hidden in the woods.  Offered all year.
  • Revised Celebrating Healthy, Active Kids Program (CHAK)
Following the pilot year of the CHAK program, we have revised the journal to incorporate all classes at Eagle Bluff AND found a great pedometer to accompany it. Learn more about the CHAK program.

  • Campus Sign Be sure to keep your eyes out for our new Eagle Bluff campus sign. Pictures next to it are welcomed!
