History & Culture Classes

Oneota Native American Life: Travel back in time to discover what life may have been like for a prehistoric tribe who inhabited Southeastern Minnesota in 1000 AD. Participants will hike to a secluded site to experience a day in the life of the Oneota: practicing skills such as starting a fire with friction, grinding corn for bread, making twine, playing Native American games, and telling stories in the longhouse. Offered all year.

Pioneer Life: Minnesota's rich cultural history comes to life as students take on the roles of early pioneers in the 1860's. Sawing logs, starting fires with flint and steel, wheat threshing and making bread are just some of the activities participants will sample at a re-created pioneer homestead. Offered all year.
