Topic: Qigong
Speaker: Bonnie Sokolov
Qigong, the art and science of cultivating the body's energy, has been practiced in China for thousands of years as a technique to improve the body's self-healing abilities.
The word Qigong breaks into Qi and Gong: Qi meaning vitality, energy, life force; Gong meaning practice, cultivate, refine. Therefore Qigong means to cultivate and refine, through practice, one's vitality or life force. The Chinese believe that the primary mechanism that is triggered by the practice of Qigong is a spontaneous balancing and enhancing of the natural healing resources in the human system.
Qigong practice includes gentle movement with postural alignment, deep breathing techniques, self-applied massage and relaxation/meditation practices. During this class participants will learn the techniques of Bu Zheng Qigong or Vitality Enhancement Qigong.
Bonnie Sokolov is an accredited instructor of Tai Chi Chih Joy Thru Movement, and a Certified Teacher of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi.
